George Esbensen
President
George Esbensen began his career as a volunteer with the Eden Prairie Fire Department in 1986. George has held the positions of Firefighter, Squad Lieutenant, and Assistant Chief of Operations before being named the City’s first full-time Fire Chief/Director of Emergency Preparedness in September 2002. Currently, George is the president of the MnFIRE Board of Directors. While serving as fire chief, George also took on the roles of president for the Hennepin County Chiefs Association, Metro Fire Chiefs Association, Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association, and Minnesota Fire Service Foundation. He has also worked in the private sector developing businesses in computer technology and manufacturing as a senior executive and owner/entrepreneur. George has a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Bethel University and associates’ degrees in fire service administration and emergency management from Hennepin Technical College.
